Law Summary

Largely replaced by the CSRD, the NFRD required large EU public-interest entities to disclose information on their policies and impacts related to environmental protection, social responsibility, treatment of employees, respect for human rights, anti-corruption/bribery 1  matters, and board diversity, aiming for greater corporate transparency.

Law Obligation

  • Companies must report their global energy use and carbon emissions in annual reports.
  • Organizations must disclose energy efficiency actions taken during the reporting year.
  • Businesses must include intensity metrics relating to emissions.
