These must detail risks of modern slavery in their operations and supply chains, actions taken to address these risks, and assessment of their effectiveness.
Law Obligation
Prepare modern slavery statements that must:
- Describe the risks of modern slavery in the operations and supply chains of reporting entities and entities owned or controlled by those entities
- Describe the actions taken by the reporting entity to assess and address those risks, including due diligence and remediation processes
- Describe how the reporting entity assesses the effectiveness of such actions
- Describe the process of consultation with any entities that the reporting entity owns or controls
- Be approved by the company’s board of directors (or equivalent)
- Submit the statements to the Minister of Home Affairs within six months after the end of the Australian financial year. These statements are submitted through the online registry. Companies may also choose to publish their statements on their own websites for further visibility and accessibility.
