Law Summary
Applying from December 2024, the GPSR modernizes EU safety rules for non-food consumer products. It strengthens obligations for manufacturers, importers, and online marketplaces, enhances market surveillance and traceability (e.g., requiring contact information on products), and improves coordination of product recalls.
Law Obligation
Applies to brands, online sellers, importers, distributors, online marketplaces and EU/NI Authorised Representatives.
Conduct product risk analysis and keep a technical file for 10 years. Have internal processes in place for product safety including complaints and recall. Provide communication channels for customer complaints, product safety or accident issues. Notify any recalls or safety issues through the EU Safety Gate. In the event of a recall, provide consumers with at least two remedies stated in the regulation.
