Law Summary
This new EU Regulation (replacing the previous Directive) sets stricter rules for all packaging placed on the EU market. It includes binding targets for waste reduction, reuse, minimum recycled content (especially plastics), mandates design for recyclability, and restricts certain packaging formats and harmful substances like PFAS.
Law Obligation
Packaging to be designed, manufactured, labelled and conformity assessed in line with the Regs. Material composition to be identified. Packaging reusability and a digital data carrier (such as a QR code) providing information on packaging reusability and facilitating the tracking of the packaging.
