Law Summary

Building on its AGEC law, France is implementing measures like Decree 2022-748 (requiring consumer info on traceability, hazardous substances, microplastics) and finalizing a mandatory environmental labelling scheme (‘Eco-score’) to display the lifecycle impacts of clothing sold in France.

Law Obligation

Draft secondary legislation did not pass through Parliament prior to the General Election. It is not possible at this stage to say when the legislation will progress. Industry is calling upon government to rapidly introduce and adopt the legislation within 100 days (26 July 2024).
